It Is Here.

Who am I and what is this blog about?

For those just joining me, my name is Jon Higgins. I'm a pop culture enthusiast and aspiring writer (oh so many people say that, and the world shudders at those four words "I'm an aspiring writer," as the shudders turn to trembling at the mere thought of horribly written fan fics).

The dream I have is to one day hit the publishing phase for any of my written projects.

But in the meantime, this blog is providing me with a platform to send out new and original material but also it is a place for my thoughts on the interesting, weird, and unknown comings and goings within (or just within reach of) our society.

Toward the bottom of the page you will find what happens to be an online media project by the legendary wordsmith, Stephen King. It's such an amazing story he created and what he did here was turn this science experiment into an internet phenomenon. Here's the background behind the story...

Just some time ago, Stephen King had written a short story (he's written many, and is very good at them) called "N." The story is a fantastic tale that summons that familiar childhood instinct to want to throw the bed covers over your head and hide, as you turn each page. To make a long story short, King took that short story, which wasn't well known to begin with and used comic book art, along with voice acting and sound effects to bring "N." to life on the internet, for free! This is such a treat to those that are followers of Stephen King but even from an artistic point of view, this is something that deserves to be watched one time through, as you know you are viewing something special.

Of the forty-five minutes of your time it would take to view the entirety of the 25 episodes, at a min or so each, it won't be much more time consuming than it would be to flip on an episode of Saturday morning cartoons. The only difference is that the animation and art will glue your transfixed eyes to your computer screen and leave you wanting more as each episode ends and a new one begins.

With art done by Alex Maleev of Heroes' fame (all of Issac's paintings in season 1) and Jose Villarrubia's excellent choice of coloring, this project truly brings the story to life.

The only suggestion I give you before watching "N." is to be aware that the episode listing, loves to go backwards. So at the end of each episode, you may need to stop the video and manually click to the proper episode, instead of letting it run automatically.

"N." is one of many short stories in the collection of Stephen King called "Just After Sunset," and further proof of Stephen King's forays into the comics' medium can be viewed herehttp://www.time.com/time/arts/article/0,8599,1832062,00.html in a very informative TIME's article.
